As highlighted in a previous post, networking and building business relationships is such an integral part of being a healthy entrepreneur! I now seize every opportunity possible to network and get involved. A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of going to Atlanta for AtlantasMart and several Atlanta Decorative Art Center events. It was a great time of education and growth. There were wonderful speakers, new introductions made and a great deal of knowledge exchanged. One of highlights in going on this trip was meeting up with other design colleagues (whom I've met online) and now could hug in person.
Also on this trip was my highly anticipated trip to Steve & Jill McKenzie's showroom.
The McKenzies' opened their store in September 2012. The brand offers a design sensibility that combines two fundamental influences – the graciousness that they have grown to appreciate while living in the south and their personal love for the mid-century modern aesthetic.
Steve is a very talented interior designer and mixed media artist. Since 2006 he has been selling his work professionally. The cornerstone of the store’s offerings is Steve’s textile designs that are derived from the canvases of his artwork. I personally purchased a few prints and am excited to frame these bad boys and display them in my home.
Above are a few snapshots from Steve's art studio. I pretty much just wanted to spend the week with him and be a fly on the wall.. The space was fun and unique with global inspirations all around.
If you live in Atlanta and have not been to their shop, it's a must see. It's a wonderful space filled with both interior and lifestyle products. If you need a piece of furniture for your home, they have it. On the hunt for a thoughtful business gift for a colleague, look no further. Throwing a dinner party and would like new napkins and or special accents to make your tabletop pop, they have it all!
The McKenzie's store serves not only the public but also trade designers. Steve is the Grange Furniture rep for the Southeast. What's Grange? Take a look here. Grange is a beautiful furniture line with traditional and eclectic elements. When you are ready to place an order, just call the McKenzie's.
What I love most about the McKenzie's is their sense of community. The store combines products designed by them with handmade pieces from Southern artisans. It's important that their community be represented in both their personal home and through the curated products they offer in store.
A part of their service to the community is hosting workshops, which they do regularly. Here are a few upcoming events. Mark your calendars because these events fill up fast.
