Summer Color Combinations

Updated: May 20, 2019

Have you ever noticed that you tend to be attracted to bolder colors during the summertime? As an interior designer, I am instantly drawn to the bright, saturated color that summer brings. What is nice, is that these colors can inspire what you display in your home!

We put together some of our favorite summer color palettes through mood boards that we created, along with a photo of an interior space from Pinterest and my own design projects that allow you to invision what these color palettes, textures, and elements look like together in a room. We hope you become inspired!

Our first favorite summer color is gold! Although this color might be bold for some people, there are ways you can neutralize it, while also adding additional colors and elements that help balance its vibrancy.

As you can see in our mood board, we combined elements of black and white, tones of red-orange, fresh greenery, metallic gold, and chestnut wood alongside the golden yellow to create a balanced palette. When put together, you can have a space like the one we found above!

Our second favorite summer color is gray. Now I know you are thinking, gray is not bright or bold, but for those of you who are not so into color, this palette combination still offers the same fresh and crisp appearance as the other colors.

This interior space is a recent project I completed for a male client. The color gray is very versatile because it offers a level of sophistication, while still appearing to be calm and serene.

Our third favorite summer color is lavender, which is also in the same family as the Pantone color of the year. As you can see in our mood board, lavender contrasts well with tones of green and elements of metallic gold.

You can see in the image we found on Pinterest how the combination of green, shades of fuschia, dark accents, and metallic gold finishes complement the lavender. It’s a inuque Boho Glam look!

Here, you can see an additional way of how to implement the color lavender into your home through this interior space. This image is actually one of my own projects and by far one of the favorites spaces I have completed!

Our final favorite summer color is blue. Blue is another color that can easily be neutralized, while still remaining true to its color.

We chose to combine navy blue with earth tones, that way the blue could remain a fairly versatile focal color, add still leve room for secondary colors that are more vibrant.
