Sip Of The Season: Summer Drinks I

Summer is officially here! It is hot, hot, hot in Nashville, guys. With temps in the high 90's and the humidity off the charts, I figured it's a good time to bust out some refreshing summer drink recipes! Agua Fresca, Spanish for "cool water" or "fresh water" is a mix of fresh fruit, water, herbs and sugar. I first experienced the glory of Agua Fresca back in my hometown, Los Angeles. This is a staple at farmer's markets and the Mexican markets.

There are so many ways you can mix this delicious drink. Here are four favorites: Mango & Pineapple, Peach & Lavender, Watermelon Cucumber and Lime, and Passionfruit & Coconut. Is your mouth watering yet?

Supplies you'll need: sugar, water, cutting board, knife, blender ice, fruit and fresh herbs.

Once you have picked your flavor, start by gathering all of your fruit and begin chopping. You'll place all fruit, sugar and herbs into a blender. Blend until smooth (or slightly choppy if you're into the chunks).

Then, grab a glass container or jar and pour out your fruit blend. Add your liquids, and ice and stir thoroughly.

WARNING: Things will get juicy! Have plenty of paper towels handy!
