Thank Ann, for considering Thurman Design Studio to assist in the design and build of your new home!

Preliminary Budget

Below is the link the the Preliminary Budget Breakdown. As discussed we can certainly do this in phases. I like to provide the big overall picture first.

This pricing is in step with the brands you mentioned you liked, a mid range. Not low, but not overly luxury either. Items that are made well, comfortable and will last. Upholstery can be kid/ pet friends as well.

We can work within any budget I just want to set proper expectations based on quality and style preference. All product includes shipping fees.

Below is the agreement for you to review. It's a tad lengthy yes, but it ensures both you and I have a smooth working relationship. Design fee in included in this document. The fee is based on whole project volume so if scope of work reduced the interior design budget and install hours will adjust accordingly. I will need to add the house address to his contract.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

I know Bob is not yet done with the drawings but there were a few things I need to point out.

- The 2nd floor kitchen - dining - living room is not an efficient use of space.

Not sure if you realize you have very little counter space you have? I would ask him to add a wall of cabinets (or we could purchase a cool furniture hutch. I have indicated this in the drawing below.

- Add an island.

- As shown, you have to enter the kitchen to get to the powder room...odd.

Flip entrance to powder to now be in the hall. Now you can move the fridge into to old opening and gain counter space (coffee, wine fridge, or tea area).

There are few other suggestions I would recommend in regards to space planning. We can chat further should the project proceed.

Having relocated from Los Angeles earlier this year, we were in need of some help in turning a newly constructed house into a home. The idea of hiring a designer was new to us. In California, we shopped in stores like Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware for furniture and accessories which found items in our house present in many others (which is embarrassing). For this new house, we decided to explore other options. We spoke to Laura briefly via telephone where she explained that she could actually create a space that would be far less expensive, of higher quality, and importantly, unique --and she was right!

As mentioned, this was our first time using a professional designer. Laura's approach was very detailed—and kind of fun. After a few meetings to learn about our tastes, Laura invited us to her studio where she presented the vision she had based on what she had learned about us. The presentation had lots of options from paint to rugs to lamps to wallpaper to art--even detail on a blank wall. We felt we were very much a part of the design and we were surprised on the items that were available that were very different from what one would find in a store. Once the install was completed, the final product was amazing and her vision literally came to life! Our house went from white drywall and builder lighting to what I feel is an uber model home.

Thank you for all your hard work and the fun we had pulling this together, Laura. I am looking forward to our next project we have planned!
